How to get your API link (NBN Atlas)
- Go to NBN Atlas Spatial Search.
- Either draw a polygon on the map or Import an existing GIS area (e.g., a shapefile/GeoJSON boundary). The smaller the area/number of observations the quicker the results.
- Run the search to view results.
- On the results screen, click API (top-right). Copy the JSON web service API URL.
- Paste that URL into the field on the right and click Fetch.
What this app does
- Fetches records from your API URL in batches of 500 up to ~200,000.
- Overview shows charts (counts by month, classs, providers, basis of record, species) + extra insights (species richness, classs per month). Toggle the data tables behind each chart.
- Birds of Conservation Concern (BoCC) Analysis matches results to the BoCC reference with three easy tables (Red/Amber/Former breeding) and a classs breakdown.
- BoCC Reference displays the full reference list..
- Map plots clustered points (Leaflet + OSM).
- We've left an example link in the search box so you can check out how results appear.
